What do you's do to try cure a hangover??

I honestly dont beleive another drink does the trick, just delays it for another hour or two!!!

Whats the most bizarre remedy you've heard?

So any suggestions for a man who's currently steaming in work?

Get some salt into you (fry?) to get rid of the headache and a bottle of Club lemon. Never lets me down

Put an alka seltzer in it and you'll be fine the next morning.

    Depends on the symptoms;

    Water/Isotonic drink (for dehydration/headaches)
Salted peanuts (for lack of minerals)
Lucozade/Orange juice (to rebalance sugar levels)
Irish Breakfast / Eggs (protein for your liver)
Andrews Liver Salts (nothing cures an upset stomach quicker)

Those too probably, but I was referring to "OMG how do you cure your hangover/what's the funniest thing you've done to try and
get rid of a hangover" threads.

Clear up my op for you?

Actually another drink can be a good idea, and in fact it is used by medical professionals. Hangovers are mainly down to 2 things, dehyrdation, and cogeners. Cogeners are dodgy byproducts in the brewing process, the biggest culprit is methanol. Methanol gives a wicked hangover and is present in many drinks, esp. apple cider. It is slow to process from the liver and if it gets diluted with ethanol (drinking alcohol) it is flushed out. So in cases of methanol it is know for doctors to send people out to get bottles of vodka to feed the patient, this flushes out the methanol to relieve the poisoning.

Best avoid methanol in the first place though, sugar based fermentations contain only bare traces of meths. So good quality rum is your best choice, with plenty of other fluids. The big problem in pubs is the price of mixers, so people drink spirits at far too high a %. I know lads who will split a 200ml coke 3 ways into double vodkas.

A prostate massage is supposed to do the trick. Some crowd on great georges street giving some great special offers at the moment. just tell them Cecil sent you

Usually try to have a glass or two of water while drinking. Food before bed along with a pint of water.
Wake up, shower. Go to work. Have food and a can of coke for sugar.

    Always works

Nope. Just drink enough at times. Usually avoid a bad hangover.

this thread is all about hangover cures, not hangover prevention!
anyway, chewing on some Badderlocks (Alaria esculenta) or Wakame (Undaria pinnatifida), both types of seaweed containing a blood cleansing and mild invigorating/energizing compound works a treat. and if this doesn't work, you could always try sucking on a dehydrated dog turd. thats sure to make you snap out of that lethargic hangover buzz. :D

You come near me with seaweed when I am hungover and suggest I eat it I will more than likely throw up on your shoes or your face. Whichever one is more expensive.

I generally wake up after 5 hours and can't get back asleep, or drink water.
    Terrible hangovers.

The best and only cure for a hangover is time, wait until the next morning and it will be gone works every time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 361 ✭✭teddy_303

2 bananas. Replaces the potassium and magnesium you lost while on the lash.
Hard to chew and swallow but right as rain in 1 hour... highly recommend it to anyone. With as much water as you can take, b4 and after bed preferably. :pac:
