You will get about €2850 into your hand per month.

Are you taking into account the pension levy (public servant) , the health levy and the employment levy

2663 if you take into account pension levy plus pension of 1.5% of Salary + 5% of Salary minus twice the old age pension

    Oops, forgot about those!

Your take home pay will be a hell of a lot less once the government give the builders and banks a massive wad of money through NAMA.

But €45k a year and the security of the civil service? Take it with both hands my friend.

You are likely to be paid fortnightly, this will impact as well.

I'm on 41k and my take home pay is 2511 per month. I'm paying the various levies and a pension.
That's a very rough guideline; obvioulsy you'll be getting more than that.

And don't forget that your tax credits are affected by your marital situation, and by how much rent you pay.

I have tried building a spreadsheet to work it out for myself, but it's pretty complex so I'm not certain it's right.

Do you think you could post a link to the spreadsheet template when you have it finished Mary? I have no idea myself how you would do this, maybe one of the IT savey posters could help out but I think it may be very useful.

    Thanks very much everyone!
I really appreciate all your replies
I have factored in the levy's and I have worked out that take home pay, would be in and around €2500, which is good news, I didn't factor in qualification allowance as well, so that should help!:)
    thanks again!

    tax computation.xls

Here is an old one I had from studies. Does NOT cover the pension levy and income levy though so if anyone wants to make adjusments feel free.

I have uploaded a salary calculator spreadsheet here:

    taxcalc.eu/monthlyss

It covers the various PS levies if applicable.

PM me if you can't figure out how to use it.

Don't forget you're likely to get a pay-cut after the Budget in December.

Actually that is not likely at all. Minister for Finance already stated there will be no extra taxes on individuals in the Budget, with the exception of "carbon taxes" which probably means higher fuel costs.

A pay cut, not a tax hike.

Ah right, had assumed you just meant a pay cut via tax increase. But you are right, public sector will likely have pay cuts of some sort in the budget...
