What is all this talk about a LEVY on this a levy on that.

Since when did a tax become a "levy"?

Oh we are taking half your wages in taxes, the other quarter will go on a levy of some sort.

    Orwell would be proud.

    It's not a levy, it's a requested surpless initiative.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Its a re-wording for the simple reason that the public has gotten tired/hates the word "tax",
...but a "levy" - O' well thats sounds different!

    They're fooling no one. :(

Might come from being "just a small wee separate tax there" lol.

Like the health levy at 2% has been there for years before they put it up this year to 4%.

the income levy was put in instead of raising income tax

it is different as the levy is applied without tax credits etc that are in place for income tax

income tax relief is still at 20%/41% not taking account of the levy etc
