    Hi, I need advice.
I've been living at home with the 'Ma' who works part-time, earning about 250 euro per week. I'm getting the Job-seekers allowance which is around 205 euro per week.
My girlfriend, who is on about 450-500 euro per week, has just bought a house.
I'm moving in with her. I just wanna know.. will this affect my payment ??

Yes, if you are living with your girlfriend her means will be taken into account for your payment.

Your payment would likely decrease to ~100 euro a week if your girlfriend is on 450 - 500.

Xiney - would you happen to know what your partner is allowed to earn before it is taken into account??

It's a bit complicated, but I can give some ballpark figures:

Note that as a couple, you are eligible for an increase for your "qualified adult". Therefore the full rate is actually 339.90 per week. The social disregard 20 euro per day up to three days a week, so they disregard the first 60 euro of someone working full time (If someone earns 60 euro over 2 days then they only disregard 40 euro)

They also disregard PRSI, superanuation and union dues, so depending on how much your spouse pays in these also affects the final payment.

You will get around 200 euro per week (depending on the income disregards that you are entitled to, in this case taking someone working 3 or more days a week under normal PRSI and no union dues) if your spouse is earning 290 euro per week.

I have a spreadsheet that I made, you can enter different weekly pay into the top box and it will tell you what you will get from JA. I don't know how accurate it is, so take it as a tool rather than gospel. Also, the bloody thing falls apart and tries to give you more than the max if you enter an amount lower than 60 euro... so don't do that :)

    Thanks for your feedback Xiney.
Its my girlfriend who is getting the mortgage in her name so, if I said that I was renting a room in the house, would that effect my payment ?

That would be social welfare fraud.

Err sorry about that Xiney. Just trying to keep what little I have to contribute towards the mortgage. It seems like I will be punished and dragged back down, just for trying to better myself.
    Thanks for your feedback anyway...

Right so if a couple (Man gets €400 per week gross - €371 net) and the girl is not working. Girl currently getting the full JSA payment of €204.30. So am I right in saying that if they move in together the girls payment will be cut to €142.90 per week??

somewhere around there, yes. Possibly a little more if the extra 10 euro taken out of the paycheque is union dues or superannuation.
