Choosing between accommodation near DCU

I'm caught between taking an open room at Shanowen Hall or waiting a cancellation on a wait list for Shanowen Square. I personally want Square without a doubt and hope that something goes through. I read most if not all the accommodation posts on this forum.

Is there anyone on here that has had positive and/or negative experiences at either place?

Maybe personal advice, should i just take the open room in hall or wait out square?

Really no difference? I can't view them in person until move in day because I'm not in the country.

Right now all I can go on is the pictures on the website (which looks dodgy on the Shanowen Hall site because there are only 2 pics of the rooms). Square gives a 360 video and there are videos on youtube from other students that stayed at square. I couldn't find anything like that for Hall.

There are some differences but they are not huge, you'll be happy in either one. Square is slightly newer but Hall has comfy chairs (squares are crap). Security is slightly tighter in Square but if your not planning parties every other night its probably not going to be an issue for you.

Just make sure you get somewhere, wouldn't wait too long. :/

So I sent my deposit to Shanowen Hall over a week ago and haven't heard anything from the management. They said they would let me know when they received it, but I think they should have it by now. Is this common?

Also, Square had a cancellation and offered me a place, but since I have already sent money elsewhere if anyone is on a waiting list there you may get a call.

So now Square just e-mailed me saying I sent THEM a deposit, though I haven't. Are they owned by the same people? What is going on?

    I'm getting an ulcer.
