    Hi all
I have an 03 Focus tdci 115ps 80k miles on it now. It smokes alot on hard acceleration and even just taking off from standstill. I had the inlet manifold(EGR vlave) replaced at about 75k for smoking but its back again.. Any ideas what could be causing this again? I disconnected the maf too but it still smokes when do this(maybe not as much) and power is down slightly?? Would a software update do any good or anyway to know if have latest update? Air filter is clean I checked that too serviced at 75k. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

How much is it smoking? Is it really that bad? All modern diesel engines smoke a bit, vag products are noted for this.
Could be one of your injectors maybe?

Hi thanks for quick reply. Its smoking quite a bit when put the foot down can see cloud of smoke in cars following me at night most obvious! Once i get going and cruising there is no smoking! Injectors are big expensive job ya?

yeah, they can be, but i really wouldn't worry about it unless you see plumes of smoke in the day time in your mirrors.
Injector job would be the worst case scenario.
Get someone to drive your car and you follow in another car and see for yourself just how much smoke is coming out.
Sorry I can't be of more useful info regarding the engine.

most common cause is the three wires on the egr valve one or two of them break causing the egr not to work make sure none of the wireas are broke on the egr
