    Hi all,
I am a Paramedic and brought a patient to hospital last night who had a c section due to a breach baby 4 months ago, she developed an infection each end of the wound site with in a week or two, she attended the hospital where the baby was delivered several times over the four months and was given antibiotics 3 different types and her last visit to the hospital she had a swab taken but they never called with the results, last night she had a fever and was in severe pain, it got me thinking could she now sue the hospital as they didnt treat the infection properly only swabbed her on her 3rd or 4th visit then didnt call her or send a perscription via post just wondering if a hospital be sued by a patient that got an infection where in my opinion where the clamps where 3 antibiotics later still infected didnt send results of swab her partner said when they rang they could not find the chart !!

Have to say the scar is nasty and the poor girl was very upset not to mention ill any ideas it really got me thinking

Look - medical negligence is a very complex area. No lawyer would or should advise without (a) getting full hospital records (b) appropriate reports from relevant experts.

Yes, a Hospital can be sued.
But if your expert report was written like your post, you would lose......:D

Yes, any legal body can be sued. but, I'm not sure this should be discussed further. I'm sure you have breached your own code of ethics by breaching confidentiality in making the 'issue' known.

As an NQEMT-P, you should know this

First off I am an Advanced Paramedic not a Solicitor / Barrister

Second Eagle & Bear I did not breach any code of ethics i did not name the hospital the area of the city nor did i give any personal detail of the Patient or the sex of her baby having handed over to the receiving A&E Dept i was in formed by the S.H.O this lady was the 5th she had attended this month with the same problem, there are many woman who had c sections 4 months ago ... the 'issue' as you put it was a pt with cronic abdo pain hardly can be pin pointed so i do not get the sarky comment

Last i came off a 15 hour night shift had had not been awake very long when i typed my post i only asked for opinions not advise.

Think before you type some day you might need us and i am sure you would like me to be civil and polite to you

First and foremost...I have paramount respect for the nature of the work all the P/AP's do. I work in a voluntary group so I see the work you guys do.

The last sentence in your reply doesn't make sense. I wasnt criticising the work you do I was saying I dont think it should have been discussed thats all!

I wasnt being sarky when I posted it. And what I posted is my opinion not my advice
