Hi there, good choice, its a great sport!

There are 2 places in Ireland - you can contact them at www.archeryshop.ie and http://www.irisharcheryspecialists.com/. I really recommend against going to general sports shops - they will tear you a new one finantially (I need to learn to spell) and really don't have good stuff.

Either of the two places I've mentioned will set you up and take care of you.

Oh, also, there is www.flybow.de as well if its more the traditional stuff you were thinking of.

The general advice is that you hold off buying your own equipment until you have dropped by your local club and got a feel for the sport.

There are a number of different styles of shooting which require certain types of bow, there is also the second hand market.
Clubs run beginners courses which will provide equipment, these will allow you to get a feel for the sport and talk to more experienced archers about what you will need when you finally put your hand in your pocket for your own gear.

What type of archery do you think you might like to do... a few choices are Traditional, Barebow, Field and Target (recurve/compound).
Also location is another thing, what part of the country are you?

There’s a bit more info in this post
