    Wow, really??

I hope the holy grail of a snowflex funpark comes true. Are they sticking to the original plans that were in the ski club newsletter a few years back?

The new snoflex nursery slopes should be in place for the start of the 09/10 season. Also planning permission is being sought for a new club house. No snowflex park as yet but there will be Freestyle camps being run by Pat Sharples and James Woods on the 14th of November!

Can someone explain to me what it's like on the surface down there ? My mate is a coach down there (won't be naming names) and is trying to get me down.

    What's the surface like ?

    Surface is Dendix,

Like a big toilet brush sprayed with water to make it mor fluid to ride on
They relayed allot of it last year so the mats are in really good condition at the moment there is work currently under way to install two small Snowflex slopes.

Surface is excellent for practicinf your skills on its 190 meters long for the main one about 30-40 meters wide

Is it comparable to real snow in any shape or form ? Like would it be like skiing on ice or slush or what ?

It's way slower than most real snow but that makes it easier to turn and stop.

Havins said that,if you wax up the skis enough, you can get some good

speed up on the stuff. When it freezes in winter there's as good as no difference.

it can be very hard on ski bases though, and results in a lot more maintenence on the p-tex.

There is not really anything you can compare it to. It is as slow as heavy spring snow, but it does not feel the same under the feet.

Always better when it has been raining as the slope runs better.Frosty mornings are the best just like a freshly groomed piste. There was even nearly 2 weeks of snow last season.

Takes a couple of runs to get use to the feel of the surfacebut after that you ride the same way you would on snow.

Can be very hard on bases but if you keep them waxed the slope always has some lying around at the top of the lift you will be ok
