The likes of Brazil and Argentina will be streets ahead of us.........

Would it not be better to find them a place to live, than sending them off to play soccer?

Well that's the eventual intention. The past tournaments have had a good success rate with individuals getting jobs and cleaning up their act, whether it will be the case for the Irish remains to be seen.

That's great, atleast Ireland can have abit of excitment with it. It was great bit of excitement in 2002 (remember Robbie Keane's fallout with Micko?) so it was a shame when we weren't in it in 2006. :D
Then the rugby world cup in 2011. It's gonna be a good few years ahead. :D

No. What did Robbie and Mick fall out about?

    Ireland make the World Cup
Bit of an exageration considering there's 48 teams (including world soccer powerhouses such as Cambodia , Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Malawi and the Philippines).

Would a better thread title not have been "Ireland invited to send some homeless chaps to a 5-a-side kickabout in Italy"?

McCarthy didn't like it when Robbie disagreed with him by saying "it's not me you want, it's that sullen wánker over in the corner there" *points*

(yes I choose to believe Robbie Keane knows the word 'sullen')

Eh it's a homeless tournament. If any of them are found "living it up" with a roof over their head they should be kicked out of the team.

I've heard the same treatement will be meted out to anyone caught begging. These these players are expected to play like full time professionals over there. Having a day-job will only affect performance.

I dunno what honmless people are like in other countries but we are at a severe disadvantage since all ours are wino's or junkies. I wouldn't be sticking a bet on us.

No doubt some will be disappointed to go all that way, only to end up on the bench.

I wonder if some of the competitors just go AWOL when they get there? If you're going to be homeless, it might aswell be on the streets of a nice city like Milan.

Good luck to the Irish lads.

When 2 teams play each other is one of them still referred to as the "home" team?
