Where to run in London?

    Hi There,

Can anyone tell me where would be a good place to run in London. I'm not that familier. I'm going in the morning for the weekend. Maybe being a bit rigid with my training plan but its good to run somewhere different anyway. I'm going to get a 17 miler in so a small park wouldn't be ideal.

I'm staying in Wandsworth. Its near Fulham. Is Hyde park a good place to run or would 17 miles mean running lap after lap?

    Thanks a lot,

    MF

    Hi MF

There are some pretty decent tracks alongside the Thames that you should be able to follow. I was over a couple of weeks back & did a 10m loop from Hammersmith Bridge -Putney Bridge- Barnes Bridge.

You should be able to commence this run in Fulham/Wandsworth to extend it.

    enjoy

    Seemingly Richmond Park is superb

Hyde Park is too small. I used to be a member of a club in London and we used to do a 3 Parks run on a Wednesday which was 7 miles. Loads of traffic lights, fairly confusing and used to annoy the hell out of me. I always did it in the dark so never became familiar with the route.

Good news is that their website has loads of routes for running in London - here

Your best bet looks like the one in West London called the Boat Race which is 13 miles and traffic free.

    + 1 for Richmond Park

You could run from Wansdworth to Richmond Park. A loop of the Park would be about 8 miles.

Was over there in June myself near Hyde park so ran there. One lap is around 5-6km,or a figure of 8 lap along the Serpentine is 10k. There, back and 2 laps would be about 17miles. I really liked it- lots of runners. Then again I was staying just around the corner and running in the daytime

Richmond park/Wimbledon common is bigger though- a common spot for runners too apparently although I've never been out there.
