Does anyone know how home scores and away scores entered on golfnet can be synced, that is when playing away from home course the score is recorded in away sore section, however it does not show or adjust exact handicap.

From my experience the "away" scores will eventually transfer from "away scores" into your "home" scores page and your exact handicap doesn't change on golfnet until then. This can take a while sometimes, so if you had a bit of a score you must adjust your exact handicap according to the CSS at the away course.

Thanks for that, however is there a quicker way of getting this done, the GUI use the score recorded on Golfnet as official handicap when making cut for competition entries.

Not really sure if there is a way to speed it up, but I find it especially slow lately for some reason. Could just be the delay in the host club posting back your card to your home club. Maybe someone else on here will shed a bit of light on it.

If it's showing up in Away Scores the host club has done it's job.

It's up to your club's h'cap sec to manually move the away score from AS to your actual handicap sheet.

So, yes, you can speed up the process by getting in touch with your h'cap sec.

Thanks Shriek, however I take its up to the individual to let H/C sec know about the away score so this can be done. Does the H/C sec have access to individual Golnet accounts or do you know how this is done.

Well I would say yes, it is really up to you. Most clubs have an Away Scores sheet up on the board for players write up their results. This is the traditional way of letting the sec know.

Otherwise, I'm sure the admin tools in Golfnet draft up all Away Scores for the clubs players as they come in, and the home sec just needs to approve them. It just depends how often the guy checks and approves. As I said, if you mention it to him, I'm sure he'll oblige as soon as he can.

This approval step is required as otherwise the competition sec in one club would be adjusting handicaps of players from other clubs.

Of course, the only time this matters is for GUI entries to c'ships etc where the cut is based on your exact. In general terms, you cut yourself based on CSS and play off that h'cap - Golfnet will update whenever it updates but your handicap is your own responsibility.

Thanks again, much clearer now, on another note, I heard that once you reach 5 or below in handicap that the GUI look after it not your club is this true, if so how does it work.

Pah! Like, yeah like kind of, but it's a bit of a myth really, in that it means feck all. When it comes to cuts on observation, end of year review etc your club sec can't cut you on his own bat, but in truth, the h'cap sec might just check with the GUI and go ahead and do it.

Some Cat 1 guys seem to use this as a kind of big time charlie thing. Thinking "the GUI look after my handicap" will impress some people but in truth, it's a minor difference, if any.

I got into Cat 1 10 years ago and at no point in that time has my h'cap sec or the GUI handled my handicap in anything but the usual way.

i always thought it was if you were scratch or lower that the gui looked after your h/cap. i never had any input by them into my handicap management....
