Lost Learner Permit

Moved house recently, and in all the commotion I seem to have lost my LP. My test is in a few weeks, so I really need to get this sorted ASAP. Can I get a replacement from the motor tax office? Or the garda? Really starting to panic that I won't have it replaced in time.

Also, hypothetically speaking, if I were to drive without it, what would happen? Am I right in thinking you just have to hand it into your local station within 10 days, or is that only for full licence holders? I mean, it's not like it's no longer vaild, it's just misplaced, so I should be fine right?

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for that donegalfella! I don't suppose you'd have an idea of how long it'll take for a replacement, do you? Too much to hope that they'll give me a new one over the counter, so to speak, rather than posting it? It's just I want to get some more practise in before the test.
