anyone know about this? Basically free gigs or charity gigs, something you dont necessarily have to pay for. just a mention dropped here and there. Has anyone else done this before?

Just curious if anyone in ireland does this here...

    Cheers

    Hardly any big secret?

Contact radio shows (not stations) indivually and ask them to mention it, they'll either mention it or won't.

    Simple as.

Phantom do a pretty regular live guide. I'm sure they'd mention it no hassle.

Organising a charity gig myself and have contacted all major stations and the only ones that have even replied were fm104. They gave us spot prizes for the raffle but they've done their bit for Temple Street this year, so no mentions for us! Advertising is seeming impossible barr pay for our own flyers etc. Even contacted the local small stations without reply!

As bluetonic said make sure you contact the right people (producers), don't bother sending stuff to info@'s

Also its worth remembering that there a lot of charity gigs held every week, some even organised by radio stations - They are unlikely to promote it for free as it may clash with theire or an affilate event.
