scanner ranges

    hi everyone, just a quick question, going to be following an upcoming bicycle race around ireland and was wondering if i used a scanner would ibe able to pick up the race radio within a certain range of the race and if it s posble which ones are best for this.

    You would have to set up a scan range between 2 frequencies, more than likely UHF and scan for a few hours until you come across the freq.

    Unless you are really lucky, it will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack as to which frequency they are operating on.

    Ideally what you need is a RF frequency counter/sniffer or a Bearcat 72XLT scanner with close call. When close to a radio transmitting, the sniffer/scanner locks onto the frequency.
