Just watched the trailer for this, it looks good! Have been meaning to read the book for ages so I'll have to before December!

Why Mark Wahlberg? Why!? :P "Hey dead girl, how ya doin', say hi to ya mutha for me" :D

Seriously though, looks good for the most part, and I'd imagine it'll be one of the Oscar frontrunners. Looks like good work from Ronan as usual too.

Liked the book and think Ronan is perfect for the part, and Stanley Tucci is inspired casting. Not sure about Wahlberg or Sarandon though, they can both be complete hams.

Any interest I had in this film vanished after Jackson replaced Gosling with Walhberg.

You prefer Gosling's one note to Walhberg's I take it!

I thought Gosling wanted to back out as he didn't feel he was old enough to play the character. He's 29 and playing the father of a teenager, to be honest he looks even younger than his age.

Gosling gained weight and grew a beard to make himself look older. Jackson didn't like it so they parted ways. Officially it was creative differences or whatever.

Despite his age, Gosling was perfect for the role imo. Wahlberg, on the other hand, is just plain wrong. How Jackson went from one to the other I just don't know. But Jackson's fallout with Gosling happened days before shooting began so I guess Wahlberg was the best he could get on such short notice.

I don't like how Gosling does emotions tbh. He just always goes for "intense and moody". Even though I loved Lars and the Real Girl, he basically is playing it pretty much the same way as he plays every character, moody and mysterious. Maybe it's just that I lost all respect after seeing that he was in the Mickey Mouse Club :pac:.

I agree about Mark Walhberg though, not exactly an inspired choice. I do think there was a much better third option that was missed.

The "Justice never came" bit? It could be taken as something from halfway through or somesuch, I know if I hadn't read the book I wouldn't have thought anything of it.

  • OMG, i love mark wahlberg. hes hilarious. loved him in the happening. definitely one of the funniest movies ive seen in a while.
yeah it does look like an award winner, but are you sure its oscar worthy? it might get a nomination, maybe, but nothing more.
it would have been cool if guillermo del toro did it.:D

Well it was a funny film basquille, don't think it intended to be funny though!

I have to admit watching it waiting for a twist where it was all a bad short story written by the little girl.

Does anybody know what the music is half way through the trailer. It kicks in when the heaven/in between bit starts.
