I have a garmin forerunner 305 (love it!) and i was just wondering if anybody has any opinion on the best free or reasonable priced software.

I use the Garmin Training Center that comes with but it seems a little basic. Any ideas?

Sports Tracks is what you want. Its free, although is a bit tricky to get your head around initially.

Ascent is a software package by montebello and works with macs perfectly. It's about $40, but u can trial it first. I use it as my standard package, it takes garmin and manual input.
