It all depends on where you pick up the car, how long you have it and where you intend dropping it back again.

I don't think these days that there is always one company that is always a lot cheaper than the others.

What quotes do you get when you use a search engine like Kayak ?

There are other sites listed in the Sticky at the top of the forum but I also like to use novacarhire.com which often give good rates but are based in Kerry (so it tends to be easier to communicate when/if things go wrong) :)

Did the same thing, collected from Faro, returned to Faro - I used autoeurope.com - very competitive. They are an agency (UK based I think) and they find the chaepest local provider which in my case was a crowd called Guerin. They are right outside arrivals so all very easy (and very cheap). The only downside was that they fleeced us on the cost of our child seat (€70 for 14 days!!!) but apparantly all the hire companies do that. Enjoy Portugal - I'm jealous :)
