for the life of me, i cant think of what i did online before boards? i used to read threads for a long time, before being overrun by the ads, making me sign up. now i do nothing else in front of computer.

seriously, id have zero use for the internet if it wasnt for COD4 and boards.ie

Before boards.ie I was outside, being more sociable.

    It's a cruel, enjoyable curse.

I used to only go online to go on Bebo, check out satellite passing times on heavens-above, play some games, read the news, etc. Boards is massively addictive. If I'm ever gonna sit down and watch TV, I open up my laptop and go on boards at the same time.

Midi files were teh fcuking business! Thanks to their small size, you can easily fit over 3 billion songs on an iPod classic, and they sound the exact same!

There was the Jagex Castle, porn, Roms and Emulators, Yahoo Pool, porn, Starcraft, porn, porn, porn, Ogame, Boards.ie, Porn, Piracy, Porn.

Yeah when you break it down over 10 years. Living in Ireland it was always dial-up. Florida in the summers. Cable man. They had it years before us. Talk about porn, I burnt CDs to bring back with me: I needed enough to keep me going all year.
    rrrrrrrrrrrrrrre-reg!
    Well done stating the obvious.

    ,,,,,,

Mother of God, its all coming back....

Thread should be renamed to "Before http://www.mididatabase.com/ " because that's where I (and can only assume everyone) will be spending the next month.

    Peace out Boards!

Well, I used to go on Virtual Irish Pub, IrishAbroad and Paddynet, God bless them. That was in 1996-97 when few people had the auld idirlíon in their house. When they passed away along came IRC Chat which was all the rage and, like Boards.ie, had regular meet-ups in Dublin. A slew of geeky disturbed computer hackers there too, but it was a good set-up and a radical improvement on the first two. I can't find anybody in the #Ireland channel there nowadays. I was on that for years, and also on ICQ at the same time. ICQ was fairly cool in those days with novel ways of chatting up the auld random chick.

These are the ones that stand out at the moment.

Well at least with dial up all you needed was one picture. By the time it had loaded you were ready to knock it out.

Napster was a regular haunt back in the day. Geocities web pages were entertaining too.

Before I found boards.ie I was a successful big city lawyer, with a 6 figure take home, a house in the Hamptons and a nice white 911.

Now I spend 18 hours a day sitting on the couch in my one room flat in my y-fronts, drinking Stella and posting shite like this :(

Why would you want us to think about life before boards? How cruel!!
