Provided there are no security issues I don't see anything wrong with people telling us about their "adventures". Everyone seems happy enough to read some of MM's "adventures" in the "Rebuilding Afghanistan" thread. I know I enjoy it.

First off its been a few years since we've served in a proper combat zone (ie Lebanon) and despite the much hyped danger's of Chad, and prior to that Liberia - NOTHING, ZILCH has happened.

Second, most soldiers won't come online telling stories about their time oversea's. Not that its frowned upon, but even in barracks lads don't really talk about time's they've been ''in ground hog'', or come under fire, or witnessed 'firings close' or mine sweeps, or the lads who were killed on their trips - their just not spoken about.

No drama in it, its just part of soldiering and lads aren't bothered to hear other people's stories thats all.

Sorry if I sound like I'm putting a downer on the thread :o

On my recruit camp we had an ex-ranger,Commandant give us a talk about what its like overseas. He was showing us his personel pics from the Leb and talking about his experiances from his tours.Needless to say its not something I want to see again.

We ran out of cans one night in the canteen 75Bn. It was hellish, had to drink firings close for the rest of the night. Thats what happens when the air corps take charge!!

Oversea's, I'm still there, the old story from the early days of the Leb are the same, what happens overseas stays overseas.
My tours have been good and bad, quite to scary, but thats part of the package, most could not understand and those that do understand because they too were there. But I'm sure some will give you some stories. It usually 99% boredom and 1% hell, rarely the other way around
