Putting cosmetics in the fridge

I remember hearing about this years ago and forgot about it again. My mascara always seems to go clumpy before it's even half empty so was wondering if putting it in the fridge would help?

How old is your mascara? Throw it out after 3 months or buy a different brand.

Mascara has a short shelf life, about 3 months, so if it's older than this bin it. Also if you pump the wand in and out of the tube you force air in which can dry out the mascara before its time. I don't think the fridge would save your mascara anyway, I would think it would be more likely to dry it out further?

Usually goes dry after 2 months or less and it's a good mascara, very popular and I like it. Have read before that putting it in the fridge was a good idea to make it last longer.

If you put mascara in the fridge its consistency would change and would become clumpy, i'm sure!

All I keep in the fridge is eyeliner pencils (if I need to sharpen them its easier if they're cold), and my MAC Fix+ spray.

I've heard of people putting their mascara tube in warm water to make the contents easier to work with.

In Japan they've even started selling small fridges especially for cosmetics so must be some truth in it. Will give it a go anyway sure and see if it makes the mascara last a bit longer.

Putting mascara in the fridge will harden it more. If it's less than 3 months old, put the tube in hot water for a few minutes. That'll soften the liquin inside ;)

I think the fridge would be more for stuff like moisturisers (keep them fresh, stop them seperating) and eye gels (cooling...)

All I keep in the fridge (apart from food) is nail polish and eyeliner.

Eyeliner? Wouldn't that make it very hard?

I've heard blasting the pencil under warm heat from a hairdrier makes it softer and therefore, much easier to work with and apply.

If I was going to keep cosmetics in the fridge, it would be facemasks and moisturiser ; Very cooling on the skin!

Warming it is good if you want a smudgy, smoky look. If you want a sharp defined line a cold liner works great.

I see! Hopefully, it doesn't get too hard! I remember scraping my eye with eyeliner before :(

Just put it in the fridge a couple of hours before you want to use it so it doesn't go rock solid. You can always ply the tip between your fingers to soften it a bit if it's too hard.

I have scraped myself before when using an eyeliner that wasn't properly sharpened - wooden part of the pencil into the eyelid, OUCH!
