    hI all

Am looking to hire a harpist or flautist for the wedding .

It would be for 1.5 to 2 hours only to take place between the end of the ceremony and the start of the meal.

Wedding is based in Dublin and takes place on a thursday

Have made a few enquiries but have been quoted "mad" money (in my opinion)

Anyone know anybody we could contact that would do it for a reasonable price !?

    many thanks

    EFM

    classical or traditional ?

havent a clue !! have to say i dont know a think about either except that I really like the "soft" type of music that harpists play . am not sure about flautists.

we are looking for some kind of "soft classical type music" that can be played in the background whilts the photos etc are being taken

"trad" brings to mind (correct me if im wrong" traditional irish session type music which we dont want

    thanks

    Hi Ex-Flex,
First thing I'd say is decide more specifically on what type of music you want (trad/classical, and also if you've any specific pieces you'd like- Jésu, joy of man's desiring is beautiful). Then, ask around. University orchestras or church ensembles should do it very reasonably.
If you're being quoted more than €200 in the Dublin area, youre being ripped off.
PM me if needed! Best of luck on your big day!

With the greatest of respect, take 2 taxi fares in a 7 seater taxi (to carry the harp) out of the fee and it can take a great hunk out of the fee. A harp won't fit in your inside pocket like a tin whistle or fit in your backpack on the DART.

    We used http://www.weddingsonline.ie/supplier-directory/item/7286/mairead-whelan-wedding-singer-and-harpist/74/

I know she is based in Cavan but may travel, she was fantastic and for a tiny amount extra a girl came along with ehr to play the flute. She covered the church, amazing classical songs but as we were getting married at christmas they also included traditional christmas songs also.

They then came along to the reception and played before the meal which again was fantastic. Very very reasonable also.
