    Hi

I am unemployed for last 10 months getting supplementary payments, my partner still working (his contract might expire in September, tbc) however he is on single parent tax now.

what would be the best tax option for us after we get married, and where/how should I apply for change.

    thanks for advice.

In the year of marriage you are both treated as single people, with the option to apply for a review after the year end.

After that you are automatically taxed under joint assessment unless you opt for Single or Separate assessment.

In most cases it is more advantageous to be taxed under joint assessment.
