    Hello

So I started selling stuff on ebay in the last couple of months, the total I got from those sales was : 179.97 dollars

Now I notice in my Paypal account that I have " monthly ebay seller fees "

    As follows :

    Date : July 3rd 2009

Item Title: Monthly eBay Seller Fees

    Net amount: -$9.39 USD

    Date : August 2nd 2009

Item Title: Monthly eBay Seller Fees

    Net amount: -$29.00 USD

    ________________________________________________

Now the fees amount to 38.39 dollars and as I said I sold 179.97 Dollars.

Now thats 20% fees on the sales

I did not have anything fancy when listing the item, juts a picture or 2 and no reserve, no first in listing etc.

When I listed the item, the fees did not seem this much

Any idea how these " monthly ebay seller fees " are calculated ?

I presume they are only fees when you sell something ?

Check Ebay http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html see if that helps

Been a while since I sold anything on eBay, but that does seem a bit high.
Are those totals including Paypal's deductions/fees too though? Might explain it somewhat, although even at that it still looks a bit excessive. Try eMailing their CS for a breakdown of the charges maybe...

You should be able to see a full transaction breakdown of your fees on the eBay site. If you login, then pick "account" from the My eBay menu at the top right of the screen (or just click on "My eBay" and select the "account" tab on the next screen).

You should see an account balance area in the middle of the screen, stating what you currently owe them. Right under "Current Balance", click on "All Account History" and you should see a full breakdown of all fees charged to you, itemised by each transaction.

I've only sold books there so far, and it may be different for other products. But typically the Final Value Fee is 10%. That's charged on top of any insertion fee, and there's extra fees charged for things like if you want more than one photo. Anyway, that "All Account History" function should show you exactly what they have charged you for.

No, there are also "insertion fees" when you list something for sale.

So even if it doesn't sell, you have to pay.

It's pretty clearly laid out on the selling form.

    Hi there,

I have seen a few people comment about the fees from Ebay.
I saw the other day there is a NEW ireland auction site just starting up
    on www(dot)paddybay(dot)com

Its only new but i love the name & i think it will take off!

Its a great option to go for as there are no fees to list an item and very low commission charge if you sell your item.

    hope this helps...

    Steve

Much as I despise eBay for the way it now operates, it is the only player worth a damn due to its sheer size - the new one that you mention hasn't a prayer. :)

I mean, come on, 16 items listed today - I know from little acorns but...................................!
