bring the dimensions of ur kitchen to different kitchen places and sit down with them.
    include ikea in the list

Ikea has a kitchen designer that is actually very good and easy enough to use. For ideas google ikeafans forum and they have a forum that critiques your design and gives you ideas.

I have also seen two kitchen designers and both had a slightly diferent approach to designing my kitchen but booth gave me ideas and I used those ideas in my ikea design. I will probably end up getting my kitchen from ikea.

It's a bit of hit and miss. I purchased some books from amazon including one called Ideas. They were good sources. There are a number of Irish suppliers that have reasonable sites and I found one american site that deals with the issue of counter tops very well. I'll pm these links to you.

If you are attempting to explain to someone what someone else wants in a kitchen design, you will fail.

I think "she" should go to the kitchen designers with the room dimensions, as Carlow52 said, and almost guarenteed success.

In the middle of doing this myself....measure up roughly the dimesnions and bring them into different suppliers cash and carry, ikea, kicthen world, Idk (my pick), they are very helpful and will advise on different issues such as corner units, dimenions, counters inserts etc:

try get a written layout and quote...bring it into next place and tell them to beat that price etc...has saved me a couple hundred there good luck

Google GK Design / Simon Bray Kitchens. UK company, mega bucks but the kitchens are very different and great for ideas.

Also, Jonny Grey is well known kitchen designer for a modern take on the 'country look'. Not my taste but something a bit different from the norm.

Have a look at www.furniture.ie as well; some Irish kitchen designers and companies have pictures up on that site

Hope you (and herself) find what you're looking for!

Carefull, that was my plan until my partner seen a kitechen that she LOVES!!!!

Now instead of my fully loaded kitchen from Ikea for €7.5 it looks like I need to shell out €11k plus appliances!
