Save yourself some time and money. Forget about the spirit, worst film of its kind in years.

Watchmen is very good but i wound be into this kind of film and it ticked all my boxes. Superheroes with a distorted sence of right and wrong, very interesting.

Getting anal raped with a razor lined dildo is more fun than watching the Spirit.

Have to agree with the above, most, if not all films are better than The Spirit

That's like comparing apples to a kick in the plums.

Watchmen is great, if not a patch on the graphic novel, but the Spirit is just absolutely dire.

The Spirit is completely mindless, Watchmen is at least entertaining

the spirit is not a good movie

christ the watchmen got a slagging but by NO standard is it as bad as the spirit.

jesus that film was a trainwreck.

it might have bombed at the box office but ive a feeling time will be kinder to watchmen. i mean hell it wouldnt be the first time. so yes , watchmen is MUCH MUCH better than the spirit.

Watchmen is (by and large) an accurate recreation of the novel, however it's also deadly deadly dull movie in retrospect. I enjoyed it, but by god it's a grind to get through.

The Spirit is an embarrassment of a movie & in no way should be viewed by anyone, not even for drinking-games qualities.

I actually felt angry at Samuel L Jackson for being in The Spirit.

"I'm The Octopus. I got eight of everything"

In that case, that movie should get 16 thumbs down

Watchmen is better but as someone already said it is a job to get through it (same goes for the book btw).

Thing about the book is that at least it was broken into chapters & sure who reads books in one go? Watchmen: The movie was just a trudge to get through (and the director's cut is even longer!)

I thought Watchmen was a very good film, not hard to sit through at all. In fact, the time fairly flew when i was at the cinema. I haven't seen The Spirit, but i genuinely have not heard a single good word about it from anyone.

Watchmen is an excellent film, the Spirit is awful.

But if you can wait or want to order the US version of Watchmen, then do so, as the directors cut is superior to the version that was released here last week.

Or you can wait until closer to Xmas and get the directors cut with the tales of the Black Frighter woven into the film.

As **** as The Spirit was, Gabriel Macht did do a good performance.

Even managed to outshine Nazi L. Jackson.

I know that was posted for teh sexeh, but Ackerman's performance was so brutally wooden I couldn't even dig her costume. Easily the weakest part of the chain.

    Good enough for me :D

But seriously id like to see the spirit, but in a malcolm outta clockwork orange kinda way. The style looks cool, but ive heard nothing but hate for it which keeps me away.

Watchmen on the other hand is a great movie, full of character and visually pleasing. I however bought it on blu-ray last week but am now pissed off as i thought it would have the extended scenes, so now ill prob have to buy it again

Scarlett did indeed look great in her selection of fancy dress outfits, but beyond that The Spirit was pretty dull (and rather ugly).

I think most comic books would work better as television shows. I'd love to see them have a go at Preacher. The whole chapter/episodic nature of comics along with the cliffhangers at the end of each issue makes television the perfect medium for it.

Watchmen is @ least watchable. . The main problem i had with it was the soundtrack, weird choices. . .

Both cult movies but the Spirit is very very very (did i say very?:p) poor and Watchmen is a truly great movie.

I thought the soundtrack was great. The only exception being the sex scene, that was just disturbing.

It's not that deep, particularly as the moral ambiguity of the ending was severely wattered down (and I'm not just talking about
the lack of the squid here
    ).

i dunno man...not intending to be elitist here...but i think you need to watch it again.....because the film could not have done the graphic novel any more justice bearing in mind that alan moore said it is "unfilmable" which i agree with because the concepts in the novels are just mindbending and wideranging.....its as deep as a watchmen film could possibly have been within the constraints of hollywood and to have the courage to include the rape scene and especially the origins of rorshach won my respect. i was relieved that the director understood the angle of rorshach....and the irony of his charachter.....

  • man, thats not even a question. watchmen is amazing. havent even bothered with the spirit, i hear its rotten.

I really want to watch The Spirit now. :(

If your attention span is longer than that of a 3 year old's, then I'm sure you'll love the Watchmen. Great film. Try watch the extended version if you can, dvd rips are floating about online.

Whatever about piracy, we're being ripped over here by not getting the extended release when the US have.

so I finally got to see Watchmen, very cool. I'm about as eager to watch the spirit now as I am to watch date movie, disaster movie, epic movie and all the other "movies" back to back.

They should really stop making those. Nobody watches them anymore. I saw the trailer for dance movie and it looks horrendous. WHY?!?!

Anyone considering watching the Spirit should get a Blu Ray copy if possible, the films only redeeming quality is the fact that it looks amazing, well Gabriel Macht is also very good in it. I know for a fact that many of those involved in the film refuse to watch the film as it is not the Spirit that they grew up with. The film is basically what would happen if The Spirit ended up in Sin City, Eisner would turn in his grave if he could see what they did.

The faster Miller get's back on coke the better for his legacy and for us.
