Basically I have a samsung ssd that doesn't seem to want to install windows on it. When ever I get to the part of the installation where I select the hard drive to install windows to, it just doesn't show the drive. I have a second samsung ssd (same model) and it can be seen fine.

The weird thing is the ssd will show up in windows perfectly fine from what I can tell. I can save things to it, delete things and everything. Go to the windows installation screen though and it just acts like it isn't there.

Can any one help me please. I deperately want to put this in my netbook.

Is the drive in a bay or slot that is bootable?

For example, I could put an expresscard SSD in my laptop expresscard slot, it would show up in windows, but my laptop doesnt support booting from expresscard, so I presume windows would refuse to install on it.

On my netbook I was putting it into the sata port that the hard drive normally connects. In my desktop I was using it in the same connection the other ssd was in. The other ssd was working fine in it. So it isn't that.

    Im out of solutions :pac:

And you have another SSD of the same model and it will install fine? That's weird. Sounds like a dud drive, or maybe something about the firmware that the OS doesnt like. Is there any firmware updates for that SSD?

Although i'm probably way off target here, do you need drivers for it? Check the website and see if you do. You should get an option to press f6 at the start of the windows install cd for loading 3rd party drivers.

The other drive didn't need a driver so that isn't it.

@ Voodu - I'm pretty sure they're both using the same firmware. Can't check no though as one is in the pc I'm on now. Also samsung don't release firmware updates for these ssds which is a pain as I'd like to rule the firmware out.

I'm gonna try sticking ubuntu on it later and see if that can pick it up.

Ubuntu picked up ther drive fine and installed to it so all is good. Still can't figure our why windows couldn't pick it up though.
