Just happened to be watching TV today when I caught this re-run from the 70s. It's on Sky Channel 429 (ESPN Classic).

Today's programme featured from 1976 with Johnny Miller and some unkown celeb from the US against Tony Jacklin and Henry Cooper with the tournament played over the King's Course at Gleneagles. Very dodgy commentary from Peter Alliss but enjoyable nonetheless. Henry Cooper, a lefty, played some nice golf off about 13. They pick nine holes to play over a stableford format. The US won today's programme with Miller playing some fantastic golf.

Anyway I just thought the following day's programmes might interest fellow boardsies:

Wed 5 Aug 1:10 p.m. James Hunt and Tony Jacklin from 1978

Thurs 6 Aug 1:40 p.m. Sean Connery and Seve from '79

Friday 7 Aug 2:30 p.m. Terry Wogan and Trevor Brooking from '81 (bit of a come down) :D

Sat 8 Aug 5:15 p.m. Bruce Forsyth (really scraping the barrel now) and Kenny Dalglish from '82

Mon 10 Aug 2 p.m. Sean Connery and Lee Trevino from '82

    Enjoy ;)

    Wogan sinks a monster...

At the time it was a world record for the longest ever televised putt.
Not sure if it's been beaten since.

I thought Ollie has the longest putt ever record.

    On his wiki page

Olazábal also holds the world record distance for a completed putt. During the 1999 European Ryder Cup team's Concorde flight to the United States, he holed a putt which travelled the full length of the cabin. The ball was in motion for 26.17s, during which time the Concorde, at 1,270mph, travelled 9.232 miles, beating U.S. golfer Brad Faxon's previous record of 8.5 miles, set in 1997.[4]
