Toshiba Fan

    Hey peoples.

Have a Toshiba Pro A300. It is fine apart from one thing.

If it gets warm the fan cuts in, but it never knocks off. The only way it will knock off is to go into standby mode and then turn it back on.

Is this normal and if so is there anywhere the settings can be tweaked?

    Thanks

It propably requires CPU/fan heatsink repair/replacement.

Well it is still well within warranty.

Is there anyway I could be sure before I contact them, dont want to make a fool of myself on the phone. :o

Try getting a BIOS update for your model from the Toshiba website

Thanks will try that. Is there any risk of losing data doing this?

    Hi Slidey

Not much risk of losing data - however, as always make sure you have a backup of your important files.

The BIOS update should not do anything to your hard disk, only to the BIOS chip on the machine.

    Good luck with it

    Hope it works

    Paddyo, you are a star.

It also seems to have sorted out the other issue I had where from resuming from standby mode it would not recognise one of the following - touchpad, keyboard or wireless modem and would have to be put back in and out of standby to solve.

    Cheers again.
