    ok lads,

Booked a week off start of September. I would love to do a cycling holiday. Nothing too serious or expensive. Any ideas???? Anything considered.
Ideally drinking lots of red wine and good food after it!

Just back from Midi-Libre area in france. Serious cycling country.Just East of Millau and its famous bridge. You can do long roads flattish through the valleys and gorges and literally with 1 turn you are on 10-12km serious uphill sections to plateuax.I could have sworn I saw Riis out riding through the Tarn Gorge 2 days after TdF.If it wasnt him he has a doppleganger who was hockeying along the road. Needless to say France. great wine at great prices with great food and cheese.

The Swiss tourism board is going to have to start paying me, but I love that country so much: http://www.veloland.ch/en/welcome.cfm

I know there are some cycle tourism packakes around Bordeaux which is quite flat that takes the cyclists around the wine castles of Aquitaine.
It's relatively flat. You can also always get a map and go around by yourself :)

On the subject of wine and cycling, if twitter is anything to go by Lance had a couple too many glasses of red on Monday night and Bradley Wiggins polished off a bottle of 22 year old rioja.

frankly, if it's good enough for them.....

@Jinka- need to decide, will you carry your own stuff from day to day (loaded touring) and travel A to B or in a loop. Or do you want day rides all from the same place, what is your current fitness level, planned daily distances etc.
