hi. i'm looking to get someone in to install gas piping from an external meter box to a boiler and a gas hob, approx 5 metres length for the pipe run. it should be very straight forward as the house is half gutted, floor boards are already lifted, all holes are already drilled, the boiler is fitted to the wall and the flue installed. the mains gas supply is temporarily cut off (by bord gais).

i have the new recessed meter box in place, the meter itself from the old box is detached, i assume the installer would reattach this to the new box (?) Bord gais said they wouldn't reconnect the mains until the domestic pipework was installed and certified. i told them how could the installer test for leaks (and certify) if it wasn't connected at the meter, the guy shrugged and said that's the way they do it.

the new boiler (worcester bosch greenstar 42 CDi) is installed and the flue is installed and connected, the hob is in place and ready for connection. at the moment i only want to get the domestic hot water working. i will be installing the radiators in a few months time when other some other jobs are complete that need to be done first. installer to supply all copper piping, i already have the flexible hose for the gas hob. for the plumbing side of things, the water main is 60cm below the boiler, there is a stand pipe beside the boiler which can be used for the condensate.

diagram attached, quotes welcome. based in drimnagh, dublin 12.

They dont need gas flowing to detect leaks they are so good they dont get any :D only kidding they have ways to test the line even without natural gas flowing through. Plumbers are suppose to do the same on plumbing installiations but they will laugh if they read this "Yeah right"

If its wet its leaking! :D
