teach french as a forign language

    hi folks a friend of mine is a native french speaker she is wondering if she can do this course in ireland. she is currently doing the tefal course.

    if she gets the french one what else does she need teach in a secondary school. any advice greatly needed.
    she has three degrees uder her belt so she is more than capeable of doing it.

    Both the subject specific and general requirements for secondary school teaching are listed here:

    I think your friend would have to apply to the teaching council (and pay a fee) to see whether her qualifications meet the criteria for entry into the one year teacher training higher diploma course.

    For example, in the case of French the subject specific criteria.

    It would be great for students to get to learn French from a native speaker if you can get through the red tape.

    Maybe the best place to start is in an after school language club or by teaching adults - either in groups or one to one.
