Ok this is basically how it works. There's 10 competitions to bet on, and each tipster gives 3x €10 bets per week. The league table is compiled on the basis of profit.

To keep it simple, bets will be win-draw-win, handicap, HT/FT, exact score, over/under x.5 goals, or first/last/any goalscorer.

1 out of your 3 bets is allowed to be a multiple (double, treble or accumulator of infinite amount of selections)

    10 Competitions:

    Premier League
    Championship
    FA Cup
    Scottish Premier
    Ligue 1
    La Liga
    Serie A
    Bundesliga
    Champions League
    Europa League

It'll go something like the fantasy football, on a gameweek basis. So selections have to be in by say 10am Saturday morning and that includes any game up until the following Saturday morning.

Example: GW 1 I select Hull to beat Chelsea exactly 3-0 @ 100/1, Man Utd/Birmingham HT/FT @ 80/1 and a treble of Burnley, Wigan and Wolves to win @ 62/1.

Of course all of them come in and I get €2,450 back for a profit of €2,420. :D

And to prevent being influenced by other's selections I'd ask that tips be PM'd to me before I post them all together before the first match of the GW. Sound fair?

We'll try and get it up and running before the start of the PL at least. I think limiting to 3 tips gives enough room to be profitable while not taking up much time per week. Hopefully enough people will be interested and maybe we'll find out a few people worth following in a few months!

So anybody interested in trying to be the top tipster on boards? :)

Any suggestions on making it better are most welcome!

Hope your Pm in-box is empty! :) I presume you will then publish all the results with the profit/loss calculations. You could be quite busy.

I'd be on for this. Take a look at the rules from another regular tipping league. Works quite well as once somebody has placed their selection nobody else can make the same choice. Should mean a lot less work.

    From www.goonersguide.com

    "RULES/GUIDELINES:

GoonersGuide Tipping Leagues (GGTL) Rules & Guidelines:

    RULES:

    1. One tip per tipster per week. (Tips cannot be modified or changed after being posted UNLESS it becomes apparent that another tipster has the same tip: SEE RULE 6, or in the instance that said event is cancelled etc. Organiser’s ruling is final.).
This includes tipsters modifying their odds for their selections.
When posting, tips must include (in some way shape or form):
    Event
    Bet type (if not obvious)
    Selection
    Odds

    2. No Multi Bets (singles only).

    3. Bet can be on any sport or bet type.

    4. All bets based on a 1 unit bet stake.

    5. No live/in running bets.

    6. No bet to be the same as any other tipster (from any other league). First in best dressed.

    7. No tips posted & completed within the time frame = losing bet (-1 point)

    8. A yield will be calculated for all tipsters, but the league will first be sorted on points.

    9. In the event of equal points and equal yield, the highest accumulative odds will be positioned higher. (This is only likely if tipsters fail to secure a point, i.e. four people on the bottom with 0 points, which 3 get relegated…)

    10. Any void bets will be classed as your bet, buy you will receive your 1 unit stake back which will be counted towards your yield. However this will be counted as a loss (and therefore 0 points). This rule will also be applied to anyone taking a ‘Draw No Bet’ pick when the match ends in a draw.

    11. All odds from BETFAIR and other exchanges must be after commission.

    12. All bets must be posted with the result to be finalised within the week timeframe, any pending results at time of each Round closure will be classified as a losing bet.

    13. All odds to be from the recommended bookmaker list found on www.goonersguide.com

    14. All league seasons to consist of 5 rounds only to be conducted in five continuous weeks.

    15. Rounds will begin on Friday at 12:00 GMT, and end the following Friday at 11:59 GMT. Tables will be done as soon as possible, usually ready for the start of the Round.

    16. Any tipster who fails to post a completed tip will score minus one point for the week. Note that you do not have to post the result of the match if it loses.

    17. Any tipster who has a winning bet must notify the organiser in the competition thread by quoting the original bet, and stating the result. The latest that this can be done is 36 hours after the conclusion of the round, although it is ideal to say so before the round actually closes. Please do not modify the original post.

    POINTS RUNDOWN:

    DIVISION ONE:
Winning bets @ odds of +2.00 = 3 points (win)
Winning bets @ odds of +1.60 = 1 point (draw)
Any Losing bets = 0 points (loss)

    DIVISION TWO:
Winning bets @ odds of +1.80 = 3 points (win)
Winning bets @ odds of +1.40 = 1 point (draw)
Any Losing bets = 0 points (loss)

    DIVISION THREE:
Winning bets @ odds of +1.60 = 3 points (win)
Winning bets @ odds of +1.20 = 1 point (draw)
Any Losing bets = 0 points (loss)

    RELEGATION/PROMOTION:
The bottom three of each league will be relegated. The top three from divisions two and three will be promoted. Three new places from division three will be made available to new tipsters.

    GUIDELINES:
(these are not ‘rules’ as such, but will make the comp run smoother).

    - When posting your picks, please clearly indicate your selection and bet type (win, draw, over 2.5 goals, line bet, asian h’cap, first goalscorer, correct score etc…), odds and bookmaker, and which event/league your bet is on.

    - When your bet is finalised/completed, please post the result of the event if your selection was successful. If your pick loses then you do not need to post anything. Note: Those that don't post the result WILL be considered to have lost...

    - Please post odds in decimal form. All bets/picks should ideally be placed at least two hours before the event begins.

    - Feel free to make a short comment about your pick, but please do not review and or debate your selections within the league thread. Feel free to begin another thread for this.

    - Accepted bookmakers listed below (please make sure you get odds from one of these bookmakers only, otherwise your bet won’t count):

BET365 BETDIRECT BETFAIR BETFRED BETSSON BOYLESPORTS BOOKMAKER.COM BODOG CANBET CENTREBET EUROBET GLOBET INTERWETTEN JUST BET LADBROKES PADDY POWER PINNACLESPORTS VC BET UNIBET
(n.b. this list is currently provisional and subject to change, but will be finalised befor ethe start of the season.)"

    ;) I know.

@Mezcita, cheers for that, it seems rather similar in ways. I'd still prefer to have

    a) more than 1 tip/week
    b) €'s instead of points so you never forget that it's for profit-making rather than just predicting, just a visual difference, same thing
    c) No restrictions on people betting on the same thing, the first-come rule may not work.

What are people's opinions on these? And also would ye prefer Betfair or PP? Are multiples a good idea?

I was also thinking of taking the 'SP's'...ie the prices on the Saturday at 10am as opposed to whenever people post them in case they can't be verified and then change?

Sounds like a great idea but a hell of a lot of work for yourself. Personally, I'd prefer Betfair

Whats the prize? Everyone throwing a tenner in the pot?

Should maybe have a starting bank of 100pts or whatever, and a maximum bet of 1/4 or half of available bank in any one weekend?

Definitely be interested in this, but think you should maybe consider makeing it a bit simpler just for your own sake.

Ok well the main bulk of work would be the PM'd tips each week so if everyone's happy to post first-come in the thread then that should be fine. With the amount of possible selections in a week it's unlikely too many will be tipping the same thing.

I'd be interested in this, I think the PM methodology is probably "fairer" but really if someone is just going to copy bets every week then let them.

Once the ground rules are firmly stated and followed it should be fun. Happy to take part with/without an actual prize at the end of the year.

Huge amount of work for you though 8-10 if you need to go through everything by PM.

I'd still prefer the method of making our selections and then each of us updating the profit/loss from the bets on the thread at the end of the weekend.

Figures could be checked by 8-10 and a league table could be put together after each week.

Practice run of five weeks could keep people interested.

You'd probably be better off allowing one bet per person per week. We only want the best bets of the week after all. Easy to keep track of too.

Very good. Ok we'll scrap the PM idea. All the selections would have to be double-checked anyway. Post selections here and then maybe I'll have a template to compile them all together at the start of the weekend and it should be quick enough to update and post again at the end of the week.

The main reason I had for the secrecy was that if say 2 people are close at the top and one guy posts selections, the other could then make a selection at slightly more favourable odds to try and get the advantage. I dunno, maybe nearer the end we could see if it's going to be a problem.

    So who do we have?

    Mezcita
    premierstone
    Warper
    Iago
    8-10
    wyndham?
    Bubs101?

I'd be opposed to the prize idea. The point is just to make money and the tips should be things you put your own money on so if you're successful you win anyway.

Ok that's not a bad shout. No multiples then.

Edit: or like WB a main bet and a b-side? 2 separate columns in the league table but the main one counting? b-side more like a tiebreaker?

I'd like to participate if you accept 1 single bet with the option of a double.

Count me in - however in past experience the enthusiasm can go fairly quickly, now if there is cash involved people tend to fight on that bit longer
