hi everyone, i was just wondering has anyone done their driving test in finglas. I failed there twice, the first time was understandable, the second was nerves, but i found out from my instructor that the morning i had my test everyone had failed before me too.
anyone have any other stories to share

I am having a discussion on another tread about qualified driving instructors; please make sure you are taking lessons with RSA-ADI driving instructors.

There are Qualified Driving Instructors like myself in here from all over Ireland who will be clad to give advice on your driving, just ask.

    Note:

Your Instructor would not know everyone who went through the test centre before you.

I'm sorry, but was it the same instructor? Because too people with the same faults usually means same instructor.

I hope I do not upset anyone it's just I see what I see.;)

    Regards

Common comment from an instructor probably trying to cover for themselves or you!

(And how would he or she know? Did they go out with every car, bike, bus and truck that morning?)

For what it worth, I did all the categories in Finglas and couldn't fault any of the examiners I had there. On the occasions where I failed, I deserved to.

    Glad you got new instructor.

If you have had lessons and fail 1st time very common down to nerves and completely new situation.

2nd time a person who has had regular lessons and plenty of practice should do ok and if they fail its usually down to some silly mistake on the day or a hazard that throws you but you should 'nearly pass' if something bad happens to you on day

Your instructor is supposed to teach and advise and do pretests and know your weaknesses so if you get many faults in one area and your instructor never noticed they are not so good.

    Good Luck in future tests

    GOOD.

I would say maybe you’re not as bad a driver as you may think or maybe the testers are not as mean as you think.

Jenny: rather than having the attitude your going to fail on friday why don't you go out and show the tester you know how to do things like, move off from the left, drive straight, turn left, turn right, pull in on the left, turnabout, reverse around the corner and of course the hand signals. You see, this is the basics of driving on the test, now of course you have the other stuff, like RoTR (Rules of the road) and under bonnet checks, but it is the driving where people fail.

Mirrors, Gears, Speed, Hazards, traffic lights and everything else which will come up is driving and if you know now to do it, well then just do it.

    About the gears:
Here is a little tip, Always drive at a speed which is suitable in the situation and use the gear which is suitable for that speed. (Use 4th when at 50kph speed limit)
Note: Drive at the speed limit when the road is clear enough for you to drive at the speed limit.

    Hi everybody,
I am getting c lessons at the moment in finglas at a large driving school.I am a complete novice to trucks but slowly getting use to the size etc.My instructor seems to be very quiet and rarely gives me any hints/tips on gear changes, what to look out for etc.Are instructors normally very quiet during a lesson ?Not getting much feedback at the end fo the lesson.IS this the norm until I get better?

If you are doing everything correct, the instructor will have little to say. But should say, that you are doing everything correct. Even for cat. c you should be getting enough feedback to not need to be making your post. You are paying them. You should ask for more feedback...and get it.
