The General Vision and Viewpoint is simply how you feel from reading/viewing the said text. It is how you feel personally and how the author/director intended you to feel. It can be positive, negative, ambiguous etc...

EG, if you watch Angela's Ashes you will feel negative; depressed, sad, annoyed etc

Whereas if you watch Good Will Hunting you will get a positive feeling; Hope, happiness, doing the correct thing etc

Or, the General Vision and Viewpoint can also be ambiguous (indistinct) as in Slumdog Millionaire. You are happy that the guy is given the opportunity to remove himself from the poverty however you can't ignore the torturous environment that his people suffer in everyday. It leaves you feeling both happy and sad.

    Hope this helps!

Those words send a shiver down my spine by the way!
