Air gun Licence for non club member

    Hi

I am thinking of buying a .177 air rifle just for plinking on my own property
I am just wondering if an application for an air rifle licence requires permission from two landowners in the same way that a cartride gun does and also what are my chances of approval given that i am not a member of a gun club.

Under the old system there was no requirement for landowner permission or club membership for .177 air rifle.
Now, I think all bets are off!
I'm geographically similar to you. I want to "train" in the garage and travel to competitions when I'm back to standard. Travelling probably to Dublin is not going to happen more than monthly to train in a range, how do I get to a decent standard at that rate.
I'm not convinced that ticking the "hunting" box for where you are going to use the firearm is going to be anything other than laughed at in relation to .177, but correct me if I'm wrong.
I'd love to tick "Other" and specify "Own property", but from what I'm reading on the Forum, "plinking" in the back garden is one of the uses that all these new regs are trying to get rid of.
Now my ideal is a full length 10m single slot range in my garage, but I'm waiting for the "Range Regs" to be released. And if I could get it up to spec (some hope), it'd cost €1000 a year to be official from the sounds of things.
