large differences. Perhaps fewer differences than a year ago as far as the interface goes - because IE has ripped off the Tabbed browsing feature of other programs, like Firefox. As well as a few other intelligent features.

    Read: Why Choose Firefox?

    This week in News:
Firefox, the open-source upstart launched in 2004, is officially now a powerhouse, having been downloaded over one billion times in the last five years. Hell, it's prominent enough to attract the attention of the Secretary of State.

The one billion downloads milestone includes users downloading multiple copies for different computers as well as any manual downloads for upgrading purposes, though not any automatic updates. With so many users, it's now holding about 31% marketshare, second only to that ornery old dinosaur Internet Explorer at around 60% (Opera, Chrome and Safari are all below 5%). Once Firefox Mobile and the oddly Chrome-like Firefox 4.0 come out, we can expect that number to skyrocket even more. Congratulations and mazel tov, Mozilla.

I've been using it since 06'. 2.0 was a big improvement over 1.0 and 3.0 was a huge improvement and 3.5 is *shock* even betterer.

Also it doesnt make 50 annoying clicking noises everytime you change webpages.

But the #1 reason why I switched...

The main beauty of firefox is the add-ons

Anyone experience similar problem to me?... Sometimes if I go on a page with a text field, take facebook for example, the text is a bit squashed, or the font is a bit big, but basically a chunk of the font is cut off (in the facebook chat app it's especially bad). Only happens sometimes..

    Firefox all the way.

If you don't like it you can always go back (but I don't think you will)

its not like one sits on top of the other, so all you need to do is run IE or FF from your desktop depending on which you prefer.

Pog as for addons my favorites are forecastbar-enhanced, adblock plus, and download statusbar.

Of course... Why would you need the two though?

Because some sites don't support Firefox, only IE. Eg. Revenue online.

    ????

    of course they're accessable.

All sites are supported by firefox, the odd one might not display the way it should, but thats down to crap design

    Not true Tallon.

Tried to pay my TV License online earlier this year via their website.. I was using a Mac and was left outta luck, as they only allowed you to use Internet Explorer.. it'd refuse it to go any further using any other browser.

    EDIT: See thread here!

It's current release (3.5) is unstable, for most users it takes up to 3 and 4 minutes to open which is very annoying, I find I have Google Chrome opened and am browsing away for ages before I realise FF has finally opened in the background, and I cannot stand Google Chrome.

Mozilla have acknowledged the problem and are working on an update to fix it. They maintain that if you clear temp files and browsing history it temporarily fixes the problem, but this negates the whole point of Firefox's best feature - the ease of accessing anything in your browsing history from the address bar. Even if all you remember from a page you were on weeks ago is a word or phrase, typing it into the menu bar brings it up.

But yeah, once that's fixed, along with the bug that freezes keyboard input for a few seconds whenever you receive a facebook IM, Firefox all the way.

    Here's a video outlining why

^ Cant say Im such a user. Still opens up fine for me, on my laptop and the PCs I use at work, which are by no means New.

yeah it seems random, but has happened to enough people for Mozilla to act on it. Might have something to do with XP Sp3, that seems to be a lot of companies' wildcard to answering for newfound bugs.

3.5.1 is meant to have fixed the issue on Windows with restoring the last session's tabs.

I find 3.5.2 buggy but only because of Flash. It manages to crash the OS at times :(

I had the issue where you had to wait a few mins for it to open up when I first downloaded it, but its since fixed itself.

Agree with all above who advocate Firefox.
If you want speed too also look into "opera"
(Is even faster than Firefox! Blistering speeds.)

Have 3.5.2 on XP, Vista, 7 & Linux. No issues whatsoever.

The new update Adobe Flash Player version 10.0.32.18 cures a lot of problems
    with ff3.5:)

You're right. It was even worse with earlier versions but still get issues with the latest version. Cannot quit normally, no response to clicking. Having to NoScript most sites to minimise it as a temporary measure.

I have it on six different PCs (work, home, laptops, etc) and have never noticed any delays with it opening, or any other issues for that matter. Just appears miles quicker at rendering webpages than anything I've had before. So who are these "most users" and where do they live?

Have to say Opera is fast, especially if you have slower connections like O2 or Vodafone. The add ons bring me back to FF.

there is no possibility to uninstall Internet Explorer so you will be not able to remove IE.

Just make you a test self. Install Mozille and Opera, and just see what will be better for.

Of cour Firefox is bether then Opera and IE :D

I love firefox,add-ons are great! But on crappy connections, I love Chrome because its much faster imo,in startup and displaying webpages
