"Kate Winslet" song.

I've had quite a healthy regard for Kate Winslet for some years, and also a nasty habit of writing songs from time to time. So, the following was kind of inevitable:

    Kate Winslet

I've suspected for some time that none of this is real,
I'm lying in a bed somewhere and this is all a dream.
I don't want to fight, cos' I'll only make you scream,
Yes! I really think this world revolves around me.

And I don't know how to get out of this coma,
and even if I did, well, I wouldn't want to leave,
cos' Kate Winslet called last night and said, 'I wanna get to know ya'.
These sort of things don't really happen to me.

And I said, 'what about Sam Mendes? You've always seemed so right,
and 'the bit with the plastic bag in American Beauty always makes me cry',
and she said 'I've just got a thing, for part-time singer-songwriter guys,
and since I heard your song I just can't get you off my mind'

And I said, 'oh Kate, this comes as some surprise,
cos' you've been permanently number one in my all-time top five,
but I'm married to a woman, oh I think you would quite like,
she should win an Oscar for just bein' my wife.'

And Kate said, 'oh love, you've got to open your eyes
Just like Jim in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,
cos' there is a woman oh I think you would quite like
you're lying in a bed somewhere and she's right by your side'

And I don't know how, but I wanna get to know ya,
but this is all so strange it's hard to know what to believe.
Maybe it's time for me to get out of this coma,
cos' these sort of things don't really happen to me,
these sort of things don't really happen to me,
these sort of things don't really happen to me.

I've only heard of Tim Minchin recently, but he's excellent, and I like his show.

If you want to hear the song it's here: www.myspace.com/guiltyfolk

There's also a blog entry there about how I came to write a song concerning Kate Winslet and comas.

Very nice. Not like I imagined.

You should post that Liverpool song in the LFC soccer thread. It's cool. Oh and i'd like to think miss spektor might hear that song one day. :D

Thanks again. I'm going to have a go at re-recording that "Liverpool" this week (I have a better version of it ready) and then I'll post it to LFC forum.

And yeah, I'd hope that Regina Spektor would hear that other song sometime, but we hope for a lot of things, don't we? ;)
