I have been to salou twice and really enjoyed.

I think that it’s a place to suit all ages and there is plenty to do, there is loads of theme parks etc we stayed here http://www.discoversalou.com/bellavista.html
both times its location is great 1 min from a small beach and about 5 mins from the main beach in salou its also great for transport as there is a bus stop at the top and bottom of the road for buses to go to port aventura and the other theme parks in the area.

Its very good, I was there last september and it was really nice, not too crowded and not roasting hot, stayed in Vila Romana hotel very nice hotel, big buffet for meals, had a show on every night for families.
Have a look on tripadvisor for more info,5 minutes to Salou beach and 10 minutes walk to PortAdventura.
Lot of families there in september but there is plenty of nightclubs for the party people.

A mate of mine was there last month and had a great time there.

I think it's one of the best of those type resorts. Plenty of options for adults and kids.
