i have met the most amazing man. together 6 months, live together and get on great 99% of the time. BUT for some reason i cant get over how badly i was treated by an ex over 2 years ago! i have trust issues that are completely unfounded as i know my current bf is completely loyal. i have booked to see a psychotherapist tomorrow evening, do you think this will help? dont want to lose this guy

Going to see a Psychotherapist will probably help to sort out your past issues but theres a lot of emotional excavating you'll have to do to get there. It will probably bring up a lot of feelings but i guess thats neccessary so you can work them out. It'll be worth it in the long run :)

With reference to trust, i dont know if any sane person would tell you to trust anyone 100%. I dont mean to be cynical but it's probably not realistic to completely let down that protective guard, it is there for a reason. It sounds like your boyfriend is a good guy, and it does sound like you can trust him. But if you trust him to never do anything to upset you ever then you're more likely to get yourself hurt. Just realising he's human and reading situations as they come is probably the most realistic way of dealing with your feelings. I guess what I'm trying to say is you should only trust the people that deserve it and have proven that the want the best for you. In that way it puts you in control of the situation and you dont have to be as scared. And if this guy is kind and patient enough to wait for you to be comfortable, it'll help the hurts you experienced in the past be soothed in time.

    Best of luck :)
