Just wondering. Do the Gardai have to give you a copy of the saerch warrant and copy of items seized for it to be legal? Or is that only on TV?

the gardai have to show you the original if you want to see it within a reasonable timeframe (not necessarily when they "visit"). they gardai don't even have to have it in theur possession upon entering. they do not have to hand it to you or give you a copy unless you are charged with an offence and a judge orders the warrant's disclosure.

Actually if the Gardai are there to search your home they have to show you the warrant there and then, you may request a copy off them from the station. Also when they seize items they should list them and get you to sign a form to say that X,Y & Z has been taken into gardai's possession until they are finsihed with it!!

I get the impression they won't actually give you the warrant (a) you would then know in more detail why they are searching (b) its likely to be an original.
