Last year the points dropped to a ridiculous 365, do you expect them to rise much this year?

I think they will, I think 375 is reasonable enough for this year.

I was thinking of applying next year. Do you ever see it going much above 400 again?

Why do you think that's ridiculous? It's just a comment on the relative demand, nothing more.

It just seems very low compared it used to be about 420, do you see it going to that again or should I be ok?

You're worried it will jump up outta your range? Look I really wouldn't worry about that. If you think you'll like the course and have an interest in the area then go for it and hopefully the leaving will go your way. There's not much you can do about how many it will take to get a place. Perhaps scout some "backup" courses to give the 2nd, 3rd etc preferences on the CAO e.g. some other business course in NUIG or Commerce somewhere else.

Personally I imagine there won't be as much demand for Commerce places in the coming years as there have been.

No, actually I did my Leaving years ago and was planning on going back. I got 410 do you think this will be out of my range next year?

Oh right. I have no idea tbh, sorry. but I'd lean towards that being enough.

There are supposed to be record number applying for courses this year, do you think with what's happened in the banking thing that demand for Commerce might drop a bit or at least not rise that much?

During a recession the number of people studying econimics increases, so expect the points to rise.

put it this way its not gonna rise from 365 to 410 in the space of 2 years!!Any course I have seen go up or down in point usually jump 20 points at max!!!

Just be sure you want to do commerce...thats the biggest worry!I'm doing...only finding it to be ok for me...and no job at end of it.

Hey I'm a second year commerce student at NUIG, if you are applying for the course this year or next year I can't see it going above 390 or 400 max although it definitely won't drop again this year I reckon it will be about 375 this year.
