Hello I'm not from a design background but am looking for a typeface that looks like a library date stamp (see attachment) and wondering if someone could recommend one. thanks

PS Not looking for a font that mimics the effect of a printed stamp.

Linotype has an online font identifier at :
    http://www.linotype.com/fontidentifier?start=1

You simply answer questions about key character designs (eg the way the tail on the Q is designed) - with simple options. After answering about six questions of this nature, it will come up with a shortlist. You can buy the fonts online from the same site for a variety of platforms, and download them. Be sure to get the right font type for your operating system and output device (eg True type, Postscript or OpenType).

Each typeface edition costs around EUR 25.

Well, you get what you pay for! :)

Are you trying to take out some library books for free? :)
