    im moving to maynooth next month and haven't a clue where to start looking for accommodation.

    I would like to live in a 4/5 bed house, rent about E90 a week, 15 minutes walk from college and near town and in a good vibrant student area with decent access to buses.

    can you suggest a few estates thanks.

    The main estates ticking most of your boxes are Parklands, Beaufield, Meadowbrook, Rail Park, Silken Vale and Moyglare

    Further afield you have Cluain Aoibheann, Castledawson, College Green, Carton Court, Kingsbry and Maynooth Park

    Jimmayy!!

    <Sorry!>

    Now is a good time to check out rooms - end of temporary summer season hits about August, and many rooms should become available in the downtime after CAO results.

    Beware of a number of career landlords who rent out houses with converted sitting rooms, garages and spare bathrooms, fill them with double their comfortable capacity, and provide little in the way of upkeep. I have been here five years and personally dealt with three of them - ALWAYS view the property completely - every room. Familiarise yourself with PRTB guidelines for property registration, and your rights under the residential tenancies act. You will find synopses at www.prtb.ie

    Watch out aswell for damage caused by previous occupants. When you move in and if you see any damage at all contact the landlord straight away and take photos. Save and date them.

    I know a few girls from Donegal who moved into a house in Maynooth that had a cracked fire place. At the end of their stay the landlord refused to repay their deposits. When the next group of students moved in the firplace was still cracked.

    This was probably just one chancer but be aware.

    Sorry to hi-jack a topic but I'm also looking for accomodation just before I start the new year.

    I wasn't lucky enough to get picked out of the on-campus lottery so I am looking to find a reasonably priced house to share in.

    Has anyone any tips to help out on some good spots? I saw a couple on daft.ie but quite a lot of them were out of my price range.

    I'm hoping to find a place close to €90 or so a week including bills (perhaps pushing it?).

    Anyways, open to any suggestions.
