Transferring movies and music?

Help! My sister has just given me my nephew's ipod touch and ipod with a list of movies and albums he'd like on each. The problem is I've never used either before and they say they don't know how to put files on them either (even though they already have stuff on them )

I don't know either how much storage is on the ipod and itouch. Can I fit feature films onto an ipod for example? I doubt it....

At the moment I'm thinking I need to install Itunes and convert the movie avi files to mp4 (for the itouch at least) and that itunes will handle the conversion. I have the movies he wants and at the moment they are in 700mb avi files.

Any help would be gratefully received as my nephew is only young and I'd like to help out! Thanks in advance and cheers.

Hey, iTunes wont convert the DVDs unfortunately. You need a 3rd party programme. I use DVD to ipod converter. cost about 30bob i think but takes a long time to do. real time in most cases. Regarding space on each ipod. as soon as you hook it up to itunes it will tell you in the summary tab down the bottom. If youwant to keep the stuff thats on them already make sure you check the box "manage music and videos manually" otherwise you'll replace whats on the ipod with whats in your itunes library.... hope this helps

  • Thanks mate. I downloaded itunes but having to convert the avis to mp4 is a real pain :( Hope I don't have to convert the music mp3's as well.....

MP3's will be able to copy across using iTunes (if you just add them to the library).

  • Any recommendations for software to convert avi to mp4? I installed something called Videora but I'm not impressed...

I use Super. It's a bit quirky, but it does the job.
