Calling a U.S 1800 number from Ireland

    Is it possible to call a 1800 number thats for the U.S.A from Ireland?

    Its in relation to a purchase I made and they won't accept email correspondence.

    yep, normally cost same as ringing a landline, just dial eg 0018001234567 as 1 is the US county code.

    O2 allow it anyway but check tariff first .

    As far as im aware, you need to get the local number (ie one beginning with 0 ), so you can add the international code. I could be wrong though.

    Some you can , some you can't.

    Depends on the carrier (on the other end).

    I assume they mean to use 001-18004569713 ... but not tried it myself.

    No , the US is a strange case. It's 001-800-456-9713 if the number starts with 1.

    Use skype its free for 1800 us and you dont have to mess with numbers.

    1-800 numbers in the US are actually known as 800 numbers. When an American dials the 1 it gets them out of state when dialing or something along them lines hence why they dial 1-800 and why they are advertised like that. One of my US buddies explained it to me a long time ago but I was drunk and not paying attention.
