Can Cork still win the AI?

I thought this deserves a discussion all of it's own. The general feeling around the country is that Cork's chances have been dealt a severe blow today as their eternal nemesis (in Croke Park anyway) are still in the championship.
Obviously they have to get over Tyrone first but it now looks like they will have to beat Tyrone AND Kerry to win their first All-Ireland since 1990.
    A bridge too far?
Oh, and before anyone complains, I am not counting out Meath and Mayo, either of them could beat Kerry I know.

There's no reason why Cork can't win the All Ireland. 1-27 was a very impressive score yesterday regardless of how poor the opposition was. I was in Croke Park yesterday and for the first time in years i thought Cork looked at ease playing in Croker. I actually think Croke Park suits the Cork game. Our neighbours might have thumped de Dubs today but for once i think Cork can beat Kerry in an All Ireland final but both teams have to win their semi finals first and Tyrone will be hard to beat but a repeat performance of yesterday will go a long way towards beating Tyrone.

I was delighted to see Cork take scores with confidence in Croke Park finally. I think they will be more worried about Tyrone this year than Kerry. There is no reason why either encounter should anything other than 50:50.
They have the measure of Kerry now, they also have the measure of Croke Park. They have a strong bench too. Would love to see Canty, Lynch, O'Leary, Miskella & Murphy win a medal. They really deserve it, they are a really decent bunch of lads & it would be desperate to see another year pass them by.

To be honest, if it comes down to Kerry/Dublin in Croke Park and I was forced to bet my mortgage on it, I'd go for Kerry without hesitation.

I really think Cork can beat Tyrone. Kildare, with a bit more composure in front of goals, could have won yesterday. Maybe that might be the tough match Tyrone just needed to keep them on their toes, but i honestly believe Cork can take them. The problem for Cork is that even if they do overcome the Red Hand men, i think Kerry will take them in the final once again. (Cant see either Mayo or Meath defeating Kerry)

Cork win sam, not a hope, as impressed as i was with them on sunday you have to look at it, dublin although not really evident from yesterday are debateably a better team than us (donegal) and kerry managed to keep them to 1-07 and beat them by 17 points, cork although scored highly because of total domination in midfield also conceded 2-10 which im sure kerry can improve on, cork just wouldnt have the ball quite as much against the kerry midfield with o se, and the tyrone midfield with cavanagh, even if neil gallagher was present yesterday it might have been a bit closer game. I also wouldnt read too much into the closeness of the tyrone game on sunday as they went in overconfident thinking they would walk it and surely will have learned a lesson from that. My moneys still on a tyrone kerry final again.

a kerry v cork final is a real possibility, as is the other one. its hard to tell, i think kerry, cork and tyrone are all equal. cork, so far, are the team to beat IMO but this is a crazy championship.

This championship is wide open. Cork and Kerry were very impressive yesterday, but they will never get the same amount of freedom again - Donegal and Dublin were not up for it, for some reason.

Tyrone had the ideal preparation - a tough physical match and three weeks to get ready for the next one.

Would not surprise me if Mayo (like Dublin) collapsed against Kerry. They were lucky enough to beat a limited Galway team.

It is between Tyrone, Kerry, and Cork. In that order. I think!

Kerry are marginally ahead at the moment as favourites as the Tyrone and Cork game is so hard to call. I think it is 50/50 between Cork and Tyrone, Cork certainly have the forwards to beat Tyrone and a big pitch in Croke Park I think they might just do it. Kerry have the easier semi-final as neither Mayo or Meath are real contenders to lift Sam.

    My favourites are as follows:

    1. Tyrone (afterall they are the reigning champions and Kerry cant beat them)

    2. Kerry

    3. Cork

    4. Mayo/Meath (complete outsiders)

Have Cork got the mental strength to tackle Kerry in Croke park.(if both get to the final)
If they have then they have a good chance as they have some fine footballers.

I'm actually really looking forward to the Tyrone/Cork semi-final, I predict that it will be the best match in the championship. Tyrone will be ready for it after sauntering to a semi-final without ever even coming out of first gear but that Cork team is full of class. I just can't wait for it. I'm not from either county by the way, I just love good football.

thats the key right there, cork have the ability no question. but mental strength especially when it comes to kerry in croke park counts for an awful lot no matter how much talent you have as dublin found out yesterday
