Hi i am unemployed since jan of this year and have been recieving JSA of 169.90 a week. My partner was bringing in 350 a week from full time work.

Last week he got a letter from work stating hes been put on a 3 day week(after orginally taking a pay cut). His weekly wages will now be 210 a week. He is going to claim for the 2 days. We are paying 135euro a week in rent, and are not in a position to move and our landlord refused to cut the rent

So we have a few questions.

    1. Would we be entitled to rent allowance considering we pay 20euro more rent than the 115e a week limit(thats the limit for single people , doesnt say about couples)

    2. Could my partner be rejected for the 2 days claiming seen as im on JSA, also if he does get the 2 days will my money be put up or down?

    3. When should my partner go down to claim, his 3 day week doesnt start until 10th Aug and he doesnt know weather to go down before or after. Also should i go with him seen as im on JSA and i might need to add details to the claim?

    4. Anyone know if theres a waiting time on claiming for 2 days?

    Thankssmile.gif

The limit for rent allowance for couples without children in Tipp is €122 per week :( (It's actually down to 94 per week for single people without children now)

To be honest, I'm not sure at all how part time claims while partner is claiming full time work. You'd be best to visit your local citizens information office.

First of all, your partner should go into the office the first day he doesn't work. If the 3 day week starts on the 10th August, and he works say 10th & 11th, then he goes to the office on 12th. He should bring with him a letter from his employer stating he is now on a 3 day week (and that he was previously working full time), along with his proof of ID and address.
The waiting time on a casual claim is about the same as a normal claim - nobody can say really how long it will take to be processed - depends how busy your office is unfortunately.
Your claim may be affected - your partner will need your PPS number - if you like you can go to your signing hatch and request a review of your means. However, I am unsure if you will then be receiving more or less than you are now. If you don't request it, a review will be done at some stage anyway.
