The attached is from the Irish Times in 1874, and the article I'm concerned with is on page 2 of the PDF attachment and is about the Higgins family, ancestors of mine (I think!)

Sorry if it seems like a stupid question but is it saying that Patrick Higgins is dead? And his family are looking for money or something?

I'd appreciate any help :) Thanks

It appears to be a legal notice published asking for anyone who has any security over any property assets of Patrick Higgins, to make themselves known.

It appears to be part of a case being taken by James Spring against the children of the late Patrick Higgins, presumably as his heirs. I would imagine that Mr. Spring was looking for money from the estate, and the court directed that this notice be published to find out if anyone else had a security over any of Patrick Higgins' assets before giving them to Mr. Spring.

So, yes Patrick Higgins of North King St. is dead. It gives his date of death of January 18? I can't make out the last two digits.

    Hope this helps.
