Is there an advantage with having a Dreambox 500S (Satellite receiver) over other receivers.
What do you need from you end to make the 500S work does anyone know ?

    Anyone buy off here too

Well with any Sat receiver your choices are greatly increased over what's available on cable. You don't have a fixed option of channels and can also point your dish to another bird in the sky.

Obviously you have to have a working Sat dish for a DM500S. Other than that you just need to flash a good image onto it, be careful with Gemini images. They are not designed to work with clones and most DM500S available now are clones.

There are great advantages with something like a DM Sat receiver. But that's something that we don't discuss here and not something I would like to be involved in tbh.

Note that there will be NO discussion on Dreambox cable boxes. Nor any illegal activities regarding any other receiver.

All the boxes on that site are clones by the way. To make it work one obviously needs a satellite dish pointing at the satellite they require and a bit of patience. The dreambox is a nice receiver with a lot of good plugins and is a lot of fun to use when you get it configured to ones needs. There are some good plugins that allow online radio streaming etc.

It is a help to have some knowledge of linux as it comes in handy at times and a lot of patience...

The DB is a good hobby system. It's a DIY thing enough without buying poorly supported clones. So Clone link deleted.
